The Unknown Gifts.....
“Sweetie please hold my purse!” my mom told me. I took her purse and my mom, dad, and I walked to the door of the house. Something was wrong. My mom was looking down. I looked. There was flowers and a box of chocolate. I read the card. “To Ruchi. From unknown.” I looked up. I was surprised it was sent to me. My dad told me to bring it inside and we can eat the chocolate and put the flowers in one of our vases. So we opened the door, and I said I would put the flowers away. When I came back, I told my parents they could have all the chocolate. I was going to go to bed.
The next day I got out of bed, took a shower, and told my parents I was going to go biking. When I opened the door, I saw a box of skittles and wine. The card said the same thing, “To Ruchi. From unknown.” My parents looked at it and said we can eat the skittles and save the wine for later. I didn’t feel like biking any more. I wanted to stay at home. and again I didn’t even touch the skittles. I asked my parents if they had any idea who “unknown” was. They said no.
The next day, it happened again. On the door step was a box of nerds. “WAIT!” my mom yelled. There was a gun! I knew this must be a warning.
“Mom! This might be a warning! Maybe they're giving this to us to keep us safe!” My mom disagreed. She told me not to touch it and not even to get near it. My dad walked to the front porch and put the box of nerds in my hand.
He picked up the gun and said, "This gun is really good and could keep our family safe." My mom took the gun from my dad and broke it.
“I will not allow ANY guns in our house!” she screamed. Day after day, we kept on getting a box of candy and some weird item with it. Until one day there was a bomb with a timer on it.
All I said was, “RUN!” My parents looked at each other and nodded. We ran. We ran as fast as we could. A bomb was right behind us! Every one in the neighborhood ran with us until we saw some cops coming out of a car.
“What happened!?” said one of them.
I said terrified, “Some guy kept on sending us stuff. First flowers then wine, then a gun, and finally a bomb! And some type of candy would come with it.”
“Thank you. Now, if there was a card with it, what did it say?” The cop asked. “The card said to Ruchi. From unknown.” I replied.
“Ok, and your name is Ruchi right?” another cop questioned. I nodded. The police told my family and I to get in the car.
Then one of our neighbors said, “I am the unknown person. I sent you the bomb and all the other weird gifts because a thief was here in this neighborhood. He stole my watch, and he told me he was going to go to your house next. So I gave you the gun so you could kill him. But I noticed you broke it. So I gave you a bomb, knowing, you would run away from it. I knew the thief was right around the corner. and when the bomb went off, he would die.” We all looked at each other dumbstruck.
“Thank you. Thank you for trying to help us,” My mom answered.
The cops still said, "We will take you and your neighbor into the police station and investigate."
