Nothing Good.

It was a rainy dark day. Usually I would go outside and jump in the puddles, but today it was actually pouring. As I finished my hot chocolate, my sister shrieked. “EEek! MOLLY GO CLEAN THE ATTIC, RIGHT NOW! There’s dust mites everywhere!”

My sister’s name is Lexie, and she is 16. She is allergic to dust mites. Lexie has brownish blond hair, which looks beautiful in the sunlight. Most people don’t believe I’m her sister because I have dirty brown hair. The only thing we have in common, is I have the same sapphire blue eyes. We got the genes from my mom. My mom’s name is Clarisse. She was a model at 18. She keeps on telling me I’ll be as pretty as Lexie when I get older. My dad’s name is Daniel, and has brown hair, like me. Except he has green eyes. My dad and mom are a weird couple. At 18, my dad joined the marching band, and was the high school nerd!

I yelled back, “CLEAN IT YOURSELF!” “I’M ALLERGIC TO DUST MITES, IDIOT” Lexie yelled back. I looked at my mom. “Okay, I’ll clean it for you” My mom is the nicest person in the world. She understands how I feel about Lexie. Probably because she had an older sister too. My mom went up and started dusting. Lexie came up to me. “Ewww… Mom is a model, you know. She can’t go up cleaning dust mites! They like, stick to you!” I rolled my eyes, and headed to my room. As I grabbed my phone, a text popped on the screen. It was Hailee, my best friend. The text said, “What r u doin?” I answered, “Dealing with annying sis! Y cant u come?” “Dealing with annying little brother! Cme over!!” “Nah, mom says I’ll get sick :(” “Fne. Coming! :)” I shutdown my phone and waited. Finally, Hailee rang the doorbell.

“Hey! Come on, let’s go to my room.” I greeted joyfully. Hailee nodded and followed me to my room. “What happened with Justin?” I asked. Justin was Hailee’s little brother. “He peed in his pants! It was so gross! My mom made me clean it up. I HATE toddlers!” I giggled, and told her my story with Lexie. “Omg! That’s even worse! I feel sooo bad for you. Lexie’s the worst.” Hailee said. I nodded with a, I - know - right, look. “Well look at that! It’s drizzling! We can jump in the puddles now!” I exclaimed. Hailee jumped up.

We both put on our rain boots, and I called to my mom we were going outside. Outside, it turned out the rain didn’t leave any puddles. So we both sat on a wet bench. “Do you know if Kim and Kate are home?” Hailee asked. I shook my head. Kim and Kate were twins, and my friends too. “But.. I knocked on her door like an hour ago. So we can check again!” Hailee smiled.

Kim and Kate were home. They both have strawberry blond hair and freckles. Though their personality was completely different. Kim liked to run around, and loved sports. Kate, liked shopping and staying at home. They both argued a lot, which makes finding what to do VERY hard. “Do we have to jump in the puddles?! I just got new rain boots!!” Kate whined. “Umm… Kate? Rain boots are for jumping in puddles. What’s the point of buying them if you’re not going to use them?!” Kim exclaimed reasonably. “Ugg! Why is there a reason for EVERYTHING with you?! Why can’t we go shopping with Lexie or something?” Kate yelled. Kate loves Lexie. She is the complete opposite of me. I only became friends with her because she was really creative, and she felt lonely when we played with Kim.

“Guys! Stop arguing! How about we stay inside for now. It’s pouring again!” Hailee butted in. Another thing about Hailee, is she is like the leader of the gang. She can make Kim and Kate stop arguing, and everyone listens to her. Kim frowned, but then looked at the sky, and finally agreed. Kate smiled. We went back into the house, and my mom greeted us with cookies. “Clarisse!! Did you finish that new scarf you were making for me?!” Kate said excitedly. “In fact, yes!” My mom answered putting the scarf she made on Kate’s neck. I grabbed a few cookies, and went to my room with my friends.
“Sooo, Hailee, what did you want to do?” Kim asked. “Umm… We could play hide and seek!” Hailee replied. “Oooooh, that’s a good one!” I said. We all put our foot in. “I’ll do it! Blue shoe, blue shoe, who’s it? Not you -” Kate said pointing to Hailee’s shoe. “Blue shoe, blue shoe, who’s it? Not you -” I got out of circle. “Blue shoe, blue shoe, who’s it? Not you -” Kate got out. “Hey! That’s not fair! She clearly was trying to make me it!” Kim cried. “Oh fine. If it makes you two stop fighting, I’ll be it.” Hailee finally said. She closed her eyes and started counting to thirty. Kim hid inside my closet. Kate ran to Lexie’s room and hid under her bed. I thought. Okay, 20 more seconds. I’ll hide in the attic! I ran to the attic and hid under a stack of old papers. “17, 18, 19, 20! Ready or not, here I come!” I heard from downstairs. After a long time of hiding, Hailee said, “MOLLY!! YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE LEFT!!” I smiled. This was the best spot. As I looked up, I saw a bunch of glass balls with names on it. Suddenly someone tapped my shoulder. I screamed, and looked behind me. “Ha! Found you!” Kim and Kate giggled. Hailee ran up. “There you are!”

I got up, and rubbed my eyes. Lexie was right. It was pretty dusty in there. All four of us climbed down the ladder. Suddenly, Hailee’s phone rang. It was her mom, she had to go. “Well, if Hailee’s going, our mom is probably waiting for us too.” Kim said. Hailee nodded and said bye. Kim and Kate did too. Once they left, I was tired, and dropped onto my bed.

In the morning, I had a quick breakfast, and immediately went to the attic. I wanted to find out what those glass balls were for. I picked up one of the glass balls. It said, “Lucy.” As I fiddled with it, I accidentally dropped it! The glass shattered. Downstairs, my mom yelled, “SWEETIE! ARE YOU OKAY?” I yelled back, “YEP, I’M FINE” My mom said, “I AM GOING NOW! TODAY IS MY FASHION SHOW! BYE!” I said bye, and cleaned up the mess. When I looked back, the blank space was replaced by a girl, who was about twenty. She looked just like me. Brown hair, blue eyes, except she looked a lot more pretty. “Hey, I’m your sister! Thanks for letting me out” She said. I gasped. “I was mom’s first baby. I died, the second I was born. I have only seen a ray of sunlight for a second. Now I can run free - and you CAN’T get me back in. Also, no one else can see me. I’m misssssssst.” She hissed. I jumped back. “This is crazy! Wait, does that mean the rest of the glass balls hold dead people?!” I asked, frightened. Lucy nodded. I smiled. A tiny smile though. This was just so cool!

Lucy and I went outside. She taught me how to do a french braid, and I showed her how to play hopscotch. All the time, I didn’t notice, Kate was staring at me. “Mol! MOL! EARTH TO MOLLY! Kim isn’t here! So we can have a slumber party!” I looked at Kate. She was smiling. “Umm… I am already playing with my -” I remembered Lucy told me others can’t see her. “I’m playing with my… Imaginary friend! Yeah! We’re playing hopscotch!” I didn’t notice how stupid I sounded. “Mol, not to offend you, but, you’re 12! Imaginary friends were like sooo…. 5 years ago!” I stood there, blank, of what to say. Kate frowned and walked back to her house.

Soon this, “Lucy thing,” was getting serious. She went to school with me, gave me answers to tests, and watched me while I slept. After 2 months of having Lucy, I wanted her to go. She was distracting me. I haven’t played with my real friends in so long. I talked to her.

“Lucy, don’t you think it’s time to go?”
“No”
“But my friends are leaving me!”
“I’m your friend”
“Please! I want you to go!”
“I can’t. You shattered the glass ball”
“Well.. Can you at least leave me alone?!”
“No one else can see me”
“But - But - I WANT MY LIFE TO GO BACK TO NORMAL!”

“Sweetie! Why are you yelling?” My mom rushed to me.
“No reason”
“I have been noticing that something is wrong with you. You haven’t been playing with Hailee, Kate, and Kim!”
“I can’t”
“Yes you can. I can call them to come over right now!”
“PLEASE don’t!
“Moony. That’s what we called you when you were younger. You know that?”
“No, and I don’t care”
“Well, I care. Something is wrong, and I know it!”
“UGG! MOM, WHY CAN’T YOU JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!”
“Oh- okay. I’ll leave you alone”

My mom walked out of the door. I cried. I didn’t want to yell. The whole day I ignored Lucy. It was hard, though. She kept on nudging me and screaming. The next day, I got ready for school. When Lucy tried to follow me, I locked the door behind me. I had a plan. I would be the worst sister ever to her, so she would want to leave me. During recess, I grabbed a book and sat under a tree. Suddenly, I heard a scream. I immediately looked up. It was just Hailee, Kim, and Kate playing Zombie tag. I missed that. I missed Kate trying to look like a fashionista zombie. I giggled at the thoughts, and then frowned. I really wanted to be with them. But that would never happen. So I went back to reading. At the end of recess, I ran to my desk. Behind me, I heard the three girls ferociously scribbling words onto sticky notes and handing it to each other. I threw my head on my desk.

“Molly! MOLLY! Wake up!” The teacher yelled.
I opened my eyes. “What?” I asked. The teacher stared at me, and I remembered I was at school. During math, I raised my hand. “May I please go to the bathroom?” The teacher nodded, And I ran to the restroom. There, I sat on a toilet seat and cried. I let out all my tears. Until finally, it was the end of the day.

“How was school today?” My mom asked while I ate my dinner.
“Meh” I answered.
“Uhh… She was like talking to me! I had an awesome day. My friends and I pretended to be Molly crying with no friends. It was hilarious!” Lexie laughed.
“Excuse me, I’d like to go to my room” I asked politely, not trying to show my anger. My mom nodded and I rushed to my bed.

I got a text from Kim. “had so much fun today! We played zom. tag! ;)”
I’m pretty sure that she accidentally sent that to me. Or, she was trying make me sad. Either way, I wished she was with me. I slowly brought up the courage to play with Hailee. I ran towards her house. I saw Kim, Kate, and Hailee already playing spa near her pool. “Umm… Hi”
“Hi! Oh. It’s you” Kim frowned. “I saw your text about zombie tag… I’m happy you had … uhh… fun” I murmured. “Oh! I must've accidentally sent that to you, I was texting my mom” Kim smiled feebly. “Yeah, you must’ve. Wanna be friends again?” I blurted out. What did I just say?! “Woah. NO. We DON’T want to be your friend. You’d rather be with an imaginary friend that me! And - for your info, you’ve been ignoring us for two. Whole. MONTHS!” Kate replied. “I’m sorry Molly. But Kate is right. We don’t want to be your friend.” Hailee added. I couldn’t believe nice, sweet, Hailee said that.

I stood there, frozen. The only good news is Lucy went away. But the rest - I can’t say.
