Chapter 10 A Lesson to be Learned

"Wait What?!" said Theo. "Yeah! Who's going to be the winner!?," asked Adin "Both of you guys," replied Katie. Kevin told them, "Well there is no reason to be mad at each other. I mean, you guys could both be the kings of the plains. You both would make a great team." "Really?,"questioned Theo looking over at Adin. "Maybe! We could make a way better team than just one of us," responded Adin. Theo and Adin agreed to settle their differences and they walked away into the sunset.

THE      END

Chapter 9 The Final Battle

Katie and Kevin announced, "The last test is a battle." Theo asked,  "A battle!? What do you mean by a battle?" shaking his head. Kevin replied serenely, "You two are going to fight against each other." Then the two packs gathered up to watch while Kevin and Katie sat together on a high branch up in a nearby tree. The two cats began by circling each other with their most ferocious faces. Time passed. Theo made his first move. He kicked Adin forcefully with his hind legs. Adin became enraged and kicked him back! They kept on kicking each other until Theo bit Adin! Adin fell on the ground and roared loudly and thumped his chest. With all his courage he got up and pounced on Theo. Theo tried to shrug Adin off with all his might. He couldn't. He was stuck. Finally, Theo managed to roll away. Katie and Kevin realized at that moment this battle would never end.
"Its a TIE!!" yelled Kevin.

Chapter 8: Hunting

The next test was Hunting. Theo and Adin had to compete to see who was the strongest. They decided to see who could hunt down the largest animal. Theo was assured. He said to himself, "I won the last test, so I can win this one too." Adin was nervous because he lost the last test. Katie and Kevin said, "Who ever hunts the largest animal, wins." Adin found a massive buffalo with dingy short sharp horns and matted chocolate brown fur.

Theo found a gazelle with a skinny light brown body and a horizontal black stripe in the middle of his body. Katie and Kevin saw the two life less animals and announced, "Adin is the winner!" Adin thought may be I do have a chance!

Chapter 7 The Race

Katie suggested,"How about we set up a contest between the lion and the cheetah to see who really is the best?" They decided to have three tests in the competition :
the first test was  The Race - who can run faster,
the second test was Hunting - who is stronger by doing hunting contest,  and
and the last test was The final battle - who is the mightiest by having the lion battle against the cheetah!

The next day, everyone was ready for the first test: the race. Theo was ready for this of course but Adin wasn't sure about the race because when Adin saw Theo chase down his pray he bolted through the safari. Confidently, they both lined up in two separate lanes. Katie and Kevin slowly pointed to the finishing line for the race and yelled "READY, SET, GO!!!" Theo ran so fast that Adin had a VERY hard time keeping up. Theo won!

Chapter 6 Meeting New Friends

As Katie and Kevin walked, they heard a wrestling sound in the distance. Kevin whispered "Whats that?" Then they ran very deep into the bushes. Katie murmured, "Whats that massive face with green slanted eyes?"
Kevin screamed "you mean a lion?!" Katie has never heard or seen a lion but Kevin had read books about lions. When Kevin looked over, he saw a huge lion with a furry mane and long sparkly white teeth. The lion said, "hi whats your name?"
Katie answered, not frightend because she didn't know that lions were VERY ferocious "Well my name is Katie and his name is Kevin. what's your name?"
"Adin!" remarked the lion while jumping out of his hiding place. "Come on! See where I live," roared the lion. Adin led the two curious kids to his dusty home. His home was sunny and if you looked at the right side of their home you would see Adin's family! Katie asked, "Why are there no lions at the other side of your home?" Adin replied "Well the cheetahs live there." a furious voice Katie said confused, "Wait! Are they your friends?"
Adin told them no because when Adin met one of the cheetahs named Theo they got in a fight about who was the mightiest cat of the African plains. Katie asked, " Well have you actually tried to prove who is the mightiest?"
Adin replied, "No, but we could try. Do you have any ideas?"

Chapter 5 The Safari Begins

The taxi pulled up to the parking lot, causing a cloud of rusty colored dust to fill the air. As they hurried out of the taxi, they saw a friendly looking woman. She was wearing lightly colored jeans with a white collared shirt. On her head was a wide brimmed hat. The woman hollered, "Hi! I'm your tour guide and my name is Sally!" Kevin and Katie followed her to the jeep. The engine roared and they were off! On the jeep it was VERY bumpy. Kevin and Katie laughed the whole ride as the wind blew in their hair. They didn't see many trees, and the wheels kicked up lots of dust. Then, Sally yelled, "You may get out and explore on your own now." Katie and Kevin ran off without even telling their parents.

Chapter 4 Taxi Drive

"Look! there's the taxi!!!" yelled Kevin and Katie. They all hopped in.
"Where are you guy's going?" inquired  the taxi driver.
"We're heading to the wilderness safaris".
He muttered "O.K." and that's all he said for the rest of the ride. The taxi driver had dark skin with a closely shaved head. Katie whispered to Kevin, "He doesn't seem very friendly."
And for the remainder of the ride Katie and Kevin just stared at the window with VERY tiresome expressions, but they still had some fun! They saw gazelles, parrots, baboons, buffalos, and lots of zebras but what Katie and Kevin really wanted to see were the lions and cheetahs.

Chapter 3 Arriving at the Hotel

When Katie, Kevin, and their parents anxiously arrived at the hotel, they checked in at the front desk.
Then the family went in the elevator and crammed their luggage in the narrow space. When they came into room 562, there were two huge rooms  and from the window the two children saw a giant pack of bison stampeding through the plain and meerkats crawling in the grass.
In the first room, there was a T.V. a little vase next to it, and some couches in front of the T.V. In the other room their was a huge bed and through the window you could see the swimming pool! After looking at all the animals from the window,  they wanted to pet the furry creatures, so their mom suggested, "Why don't we go to the Sahara Dessert on a safari?"
 Kevin responded "Yeah! Let's go!"

Chapter 2 The Plane Ride

The plane ride was so obnoxious, and all the family saw was fluffy, pale clouds. It seemed to Kevin and Katie the plane ride would never end. Their parents were so  annoyed of them asking "Are we there yet?" So they gave Katie and Kevin their phone to occupy themselves.
Before they knew it the awful plane ride was over and Katie and Kevin yelled, "LAND!!!!!"
The adventure in Africa was about to start...

Chapter 1 Happy Birthday

Ferocious Friendship

Chapter 1 Happy Birthday

"Happy 10th birthday!" sang out Mom and Dad.
"Mommy, Daddy what did you get for us?"asked Katie and Kevin.
"Well, we didn't exactly get you something, but we do have a birthday surprise for you. You get to pick where you want to go for a special vacation!" Mom answered.
Katie replied, "Really!? We get to pick? Well, then we should go to Africa. Then we get to talk to all the animals with our powers!"

When Katie and Kevin were born, they had special powers to talk to animals. They found this out when they were at their friend Lily's house. They started talking to her dog. Lily thought they were crazy. Then they realized it was a unique power they had. They didn't tell Lily because they were worried Lily would tell their powers to all her friends. Katie and Kevin feared that her friends would start experimenting on them by taking them to a science lab and running dangerous and painful tests on them. So when they got home, they told their parents about their powers by talking to a squirrel in their backyard.

"Yeah, let's go to Africa," agreed Kevin.
"Africa it is. Also, I already packed your bag, so let's go," blurted Mom.
